A is for Apple: iPad and iPhone Basics >

Six Fridays from 10 to 11 am starting Friday, April 10, 2015
Now that you own an iPad or iPhone, it’s time to learn the basic functions like setting up your home screen, customizing your applications, backing up information, setting up email, and navigating the internet. Please bring your iPad or iPhone (5 or newer) to each class session.

Android Tutorial: Getting to Know Your Android Tablet or Phone >

Two Fridays from 11:30am to 12:30pm starting Friday, April 10, 2015
Let us help you discover the multitude of uses your Android phone or tablet has. With a few simple touches you can access a realm of new applications and programs that improve your knowledge and comfort level when using your Android device. Please bring your Android device with you to each class session. In order to take full advantage of your device’s features, you must know your Google account email and password to sign in.

Apple Computers: Learn About Your MacBook or iMac >

Two Fridays from 11:30am to 12:30pm starting Friday, April 24, 2015
Do you have an Apple desktop or laptop computer? Do you feel left out of computer classes because they all focus on Microsoft and not Apple? Here is a class just for Apple Computer users. Learn how to perform some basic computer maintenance. Learn some useful commands for your Apple. We will also talk about some of the programs that come standard on your Apple that you may not have known existed. If you have a laptop, you can bring it to class. If you have an iMac, be prepared to take some notes. There will be handouts given at the class to help guide you in your new skills when you get home.

Facebook 55+ >

Two Tuesdays from 2:30 to 4 pm beginning April 21, 2015
The number of people 55+ using Facebook has increased 79 percent in the last two years. You’ll be surprised how many people you know who are using Facebook. Learn how to create a Facebook profile, set and manage privacy settings, connect with other Facebook users and navigate pages. You will also learn how to send private messages to friends and save your favorite Facebook photos. Please bring your own device to each session.

Intro to Social Media >

Two Tuesdays from 2:30 -4:00pm beginning April 7, 2015
You have probably heard of Facebook, but there are many other social media sites. This class will introduce you to a few of the most popular social media sites and how they differ from each other. Some of the sites you will learn about are Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr and Instagram. Even if you choose not to join any of these sites when you go home, you will learn enough to be a part of the conversation when others are talking about social media.

Pinterest: Pin Your Ideas & Interests >

Two Tuesdays from 2:30 -4:00pm beginning May 5, 2015
You have probably heard about Pinterest, but do you know what it is? Pinterest is a virtual cork board where you can create boards for any topic, interest and/or event. Each “pin” on your board is a link to a website or a picture from your computer. Sound complicated? It really isn’t. In this class, you will learn how to create boards and attach “pins”. You will learn how to search and re-pin other user’s pins to your own boards and how to find other boards and follow other Pinterest users. Pinterest is a lot of fun and one of the fastest growing social media sites ever created. Please bring your own device to each session.

Tablet Test Drive: Try the iPad >

Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 12 to 2 pm
Maybe you’ve joined the millions who’ve purchased an iPad and now you want to learn how to use it. Or perhaps you haven’t bought one yet, but would like to test drive one first. This two-hour workshop will show you how to navigate an iPad and find the applications best for you. Bring your own iPad if you have one. If not, we’ll supply you with one to try out during class.

Are there things you want to figure out about your phone, tablet, or laptop computer? Like getting the ring tone you want, sending texts, setting up email, etc.? Each participant will be paired with a student from Riverside-Brookfield High School who will help their partner figure out just what they’ve been wanting to about their tech device. Be sure to bring devices with you to class.
